Local Plato’s Closet® is Now Open to Buy Used Clothing

COMMACK, N.Y. – Local teens and twenty-somethings now have a place to bring that excess of stylish clothing that has been piling-up in their closets and dressers for months. With a focus on being fashion savvy and shopping smart, the new Plato’s Closet® in Commack recently opened to purchase merchandise from the community’s residents in anticipation of its grand opening in late February or March.

Located at 6153 Jericho Turnpike in Commack, Plato’s Closet is part of a unique national recycling retail store chain that specializes in clothing and accessories for teens and twenty-somethings. In anticipation of its grand opening, the new location is interested in buying the latest styles and trends in brand-name clothing and accessories for guys and girls, including shoes, purses, belts, and jewelry.

“We encourage the community to go through their overflowing closets, bring in clothes they no longer want or wear and walk out with cash in their pockets,” said Matthew Landberg, who co-owns the new Commack Plato’s Closet with his parents Michael and Lorrie. “In today’s economy, consumers on a budget need the cost savings when it comes to buying brand-name clothing and accessories. By purchasing merchandise directly from consumers, we’re able to offer them a great opportunity to receive cash on the spot for items they may have otherwise simply given away.”

Unlike a typical consignment store, no appointment is necessary to sell clothing and accessories to Plato’s Closet. Plus, the store pays cash on the spot for goods it purchases from consumers. Typically, Plato’s Closet buys items that have been in retail stores within the past 12-to-18 months and are current styles seen in the mall.
