5 Events Happening This Week

Give your input on the school budget or speak out at Smithtown's Town Board meeting.

There are several important meetings happening in the Commack community this week. Take a moment to consider attending one of these five events before making your schedule: 

1. Commack school officials will hold a special budget community input meeting on the 2012-13 school budget at 1 p.m. Monday. There will be a short presentation of the budget followed by time for a question-and-answer period. 

2. Take a step back in time with Jill Vexler as she presents Letters to Sala: A Young Woman's Life in Nazi Labor Camps at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the . The presentation will be on the book "Sala's Gift" which tells a story based on first-hand letters and a diary from a survivor.

3. Join the Eco-Photo Explorers in commemorating the 100th anniversary of The Titanic: Her Final Days, with a multi-media slide presentation including artifacts from the doomed ship, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the . Registration is required, children under 14 must have an adult accompanying.  

4. Commack Board of Education will hold a meeting 8 p.m. Thursday  at to adopt a 2012-13 school budget to go before voters this May.

5. Smithtown Town Board will hold their second April meeting 7 p.m. Thursday at the Eugene A. Cannataro Senior Citizen Center. Attend to speak your mind on local issues of concern or participate in a public hearing.
