Commack Braces For More Snow

Area expected to get approximately 2-3 inches over the course of the evening.

Snow has already begun to fall in the region as of 11 a.m. Friday. A steady stream is expected over the next few hours into the evening, accumulating to a total of 2 to 3 inches, although some weather services are forecasting as much as 6 inches. Winds are expected to be moderate throughout the night.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Long Island until 8 p.m. Friday.

A Commack School District spokeswoman confirmed that all after-school activities within the district have been canceled as a result.

Plows and sand trucks can already be seen around town battling any hazardous road conditions.

The Long Island Rail Road has added extra afternoon trains in preparation for the snow-filled Friday evening commute, including several trains on the Port Jefferson Branch.
