Commack Man Suing JetBlue After Pilot Scare

Michael Bedzner, of Commack, one of ten passengers who filed a lawsuit against airline company for gross negligence in letting pilot fly.

A Commack man is one of ten passengers who has filed a lawsuit against JetBlue for letting a disturbed pilot fly this March.

Fox News reports Michael Bedzner, 48, of Commack is one of the plaintiffs suing JetBlue for "gross negligence" after one of their pilots had to be physically restrained during a flight to Las Vegas in March.

Bedzner and others filed a lawsuit in state Supreme Court Wednesday claiming they were in fear for their life after JetBlue Captain Clayton Osbon ran down through the cabin screaming about Jesus and al-Quaida during a New York-to-Las Vegas flight, according to Fox News.

Bedzner was flying as he was heading on his way to a conference of security consultants.

"But you always look to the airline crew and say, 'OK, this is a group I can turn to and say we're safer.' What does this tell us? Now the very people that we're supposed to turn to for that assurance are the ones we're frightened of. And the pilot, no less," Bedzner told Fox News.

Jet Blue would not comment on the pending litigation, according to Fox News.

Bedzner and the two attorneys representing the plaintiffs said they are seeking information on whether there were any signs Osbon was mentally unstable before the March 27 flight.
