Commack Public Library Budget Passes

The Library's 2011-2012 budget passed on Tuesday, April 5.

Voters approved a $3.3 million budget on Tuesday, April 5 for the .

Town of Huntington residents passed the 2011-2012 budget by a vote of 216 to 89. It will take effect July 1, 2011, one day after the current fiscal year ends.

The budget came in at a total of $3,349,520, which is a 2.28 percent increase over this year's budget. As a result of the increase, the tax rate will jump 2.33 percent.

The funds will allow the library to continue and expand on its current programs, including museum passes that patrons can reserve and use at local museums. New programs and resources may also be in the works.

"Patrons are always suggesting ideas for materials, programs and services and we hope to be adding some of these in the coming year," said Library Director Laurie Pastore. "We appreciate the support of our community."

Art Emsig ran unopposed and was re-elected to the library's Board of Trustees.
