Commack Public Library Opens after Sandy

Library offers a space to local residents to gather, recharge electronics and and use the Internet.

 

Commack Public Library has re-opened its doors following Hurricane Sandy to serve its residents and the general public's needs. 

The Commack Public Library  is open to the public on Wednesday after Hurricane Sandy and will be open on Thursday, Nov. 1. The library's closing hours vary depending on assessment of power outages and road conditions. An exact closing time on Thursday will be posted on the library's website when determined

Dozens gathered at the Commack Public Library on Wedneday to recharge cellphones and other electronics, use computers and access the Internet. Parking spots and seats were at a premium. 

Library staff members made period announcements about power restorations in Commack and other updates as to business openings in the community.

The Commack branch of the Smithtown Special Library District remains closed as of Thursday.
