How Long Was Your Cable/Internet/Phone Down During Sandy?

Much was made about power outages, but many struggled to find reliable phone, Internet and cable connections in the wake of the storm as well.

Following the path of Hurricane Sandy at the end of October, nearly a month ago, much was made as hundreds of thousands – at the peak of the damage, nearly one million – Long Island Power Authority customers were without power in their homes and businesses.

Since, several high-ranking members of the power provider, including interim-CEO Michael Hervey, have announced their intent to step down.

But for those who did have power during and shortly after Sandy, many struggled to find a means of finding out what was going on, as cable, Internet, and phone connections were likewise affected by the monster storm. At the same, in many cases when the lights came back on, their communications services were still down.

Many cable providers offered credits for those who were unable to access their service during and after the storm. Our question is: how long did you lose connection for? And how did you get up-to-date information while your connections were down?
