The blizzard dropped a whopping 29.1. inches of snow on Commack, making it difficult for drivers, and even some plows, to get through.

By Sunday afternoon, many residents were still stuck in their homes as their streets had not yet had a plow through it.

Parts of the Long Island Expressway were still closed early Monday morning and main roads in Commack, including Commack Road, Indian Head Road and others are still difficult to pass, residents said.

"How can they be so unprepared for a storm that they knew was coming for days! Commack Road is still a mess. Side roads are impassable. This is not the first time we had a major snow storm," Patch user Commack 18 commented.

The Commack School District remained closed Monday after lingering road closures and poor driving conditions.

Town of Huntington Highway Superintendent William Naughton said that his department is having major trouble plowing the roads due to its equipment being damaged during the cleanup effort.

"Due to the ice, our own equipment has become stuck and some of it has been damaged. Yesterday (Saturday) we reached out to Supervisor Petrone and State and County Emergency Management officials to request heavy equipment like payloaders, 10 wheel dump trucks, backhoes etc. Some of these requests are starting to be filled," he said in a statement on Sunday.

Other residents said that plows have come down their street multiple times, when the snow has already been cleared.

"Why are plow trucks driving down my street in Commack (about once every 2 hours) when we are fully clear down to blacktop? I'm sure there are other neighborhoods in need of snow removal. Please go help someone that needs it. You don't need to drive in circles over the same streets that have been clear for 24+ hours," Danielle Larson commented on Facebook.

Naughton said that the town has experienced the worst possible scenario with regard to a winter storm due to the mix of snow and ice, and asks residents for patience throughout the cleanup process.
