UPDATE: Power has been restored to all customers.

Power was temporarily cut in order to allow workers to safely remove a tree branch that was interfering with power lines, according to Mark Gross, director of Communications for LIPA.

"There was a tree branch making contact on primary wires on Hedgerow Lane," he said. "In order for the servicemen to fix the problem before a larger outage occurred, we had to take an intentional outage of those customers to de-energize the lines and make sure the area was safe to work."
