Hauppauge Man Dies After Hitting Garbage Truck in St. James

A Hauppauge driver was killed Wednesday morning in a St. James accident. 

According to Suffolk County Police, Jaime Rodriguez, 25, of Hauppauge, crossed into the westbound lanes while driving eastbound on Route 25 near Huber Place in a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he collided with a 2004 Mack garbage truck. The accident occurred at roughly 2 a.m.

LIRR Holds Double Track Project Kickoff 

After a long delay due to fiscal restrictions, the MTA Long Island Rail Road is moving "full steam ahead" with its Double Track Project.

The Double Track from Ronkonkoma to Farmingdale, which includes the Deer Park station along the way, is expected to increase the frequency of commuter trains in and out of New York City, an initiative local leaders hope will boost economic development along those stations.
