 In an effort to better track gunshots in Huntington Station and deter crime, ShotSpotter - an acoustic technology system which tracks precise locations and direction of gunshots - was implemented this past week.

According to police, Jonathan Czeh, 34, was crossing West Jericho Turnpike at Plymouth Boulevard at roughly 7:09 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a 2004 Ford Expedition. Czeh was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nesconset Elementary School, in neighboring Smithtown Central School District, may be up for closure next year after a Citizens' Advisory Committee voted to close the school. The Board of Education will now vote on the recommnedation.
