Power Outage Update: Thousands of Commack Residents Still Without Power
More than 2,000 residents in Commack entered their fourth day without power Wednesday.
Thousands of Commack residents are still without power Wednesday afternoon, marking the fourth consecutive day that homes are in the dark since Tropical Storm Irene struck early Sunday.
According to the Long island Power Authority's Storm Center Outage Map, 2,217 of LIPA's 13,167 Commack customers do not have power as of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The houses behind Mayfair Shopping Center, those near Dovecote Lane and in the college section appear to be the neighborhoods msot affected by the power outages. As the week draws on with no sign of restoration in sight, residents haveto voice their frustrations.

Though some residents remain in the dark, all businesses who lost power appear to have been restored. The and the , which were both closed earlier in the week due to power outages, reopened Wednesday morning.
Several whose power was knocked out by Irene have also been restored, though many remain.

While there was no definitive time for power restoration, LIPA chief the company expects that 95 percent of customers will have power restored by Friday.
