The thoughts and prayers of many Commack families are with him. Though it's too bad that once again the school district ignores what has had happened to one of its graduates.

pbug56 what would you like the school district to do????

There have been a few former CHS students who've died in recent months; the district pretty much refused to even acknowledge the deaths. Acknowledge what happened and offer condolences. That's all.

maybe they should acknowledge everone who dies in Commack and how do you know that they didn't offer their condolences to the family?

When the district wants citizens in its area to know something, it blankets them with emails, home phone calls and cell phone calls. Especially for things like golf outings and the like.
When these deaths occurred, we got "The Sounds Of Silence".

Did you ever think the family does not want the attention?

If you don't like the e-mails from the school district get off the e-mail list

Death in a family is a private matter maybe they don't want it plastered all over.

1. The district sends every message like 8 different ways. Though they prefer an automated phone call on your cell - and then your home phone - and then your wife's cell, followed up by both getting email. The email has text plus a recording of the same message. We need to get district messages - but we don't need to be flooded with them.
2. A brief note of sympathy - that's all I'm suggesting. Most kids have 12 or 13 years in the district, a huge part of their lives, and when one of those kids dies young, I think that note of sympathy is reasonable.

you signed up for all of those notifications go on the website and change it. do you know that the school district did not send a note of sympathy do you think the school district should notify everyone one when a past student dies

I'm with you pbug56. It's just the right thing to do. This is simply a way for the district to say to the community that Gabe mattered to them & to support his friends & family in their grief.
