Shelter Animal of the Week

Meet Alley, a shepherd/collie mix at Smithtown Animal Shelter.

Animal shelters know the difficulty in placing senior pets, even though seniors need just as much love and affection as their younger friends. Take a moment to consider adopting a senior dog, like this week's featured pet, Alley, so that they can live their golden years in a happy, loving home.

Alley is approximately ten years old, and currently lives at the .  This adorable shepherd/collie mix was brought to the shelter with an inoperable tumor on her front right leg, though her veterinarian says that at this point, the tumor would have no affect on her daily life.

For her age and her condition, shelter staff say that Alley is spry and lively, and is one of the shelter volunteers’ favorite dogs to walk. They also admit that she is “spoiled rotten” as her good behavior earns her attention, treats, and a comfy bed, which she loves.  Alley would make a great companion for an adult owner without cats or other dogs.
