Slight Drop to 12,728 in Commack Power Outages

More than 38,000 in Suffolk County remain without power as of Wednesday night.

 

There's been a slight drop in the number of power outages across the Commack area on Wednesday evening. 

Long Island Power Authority reports that 12,728 Commack homes and businesses remain without power as of 7:18 p.m. Wednesday. That's roughly 1,000 less than reported at 8 a.m. Wednesday, and approximately half of the high of 23,718 power outages reported immediately after Hurricane Sandy.

Commack residents are not alone in the Dark. There are 72,714 outages in the Town of Huntington and 50,431 outages in the Town of Smthtown as of 7:18 p.m. Wednesday, according to LIPA's Outage Map. 

LIPA reports there are 383,508 outages in Suffolk County as of 7:18 p.m Wednesday, down from 409,662 outages at 6 a.m.

The utility welcomed extra crews to Long Island to help quickly assess the damage and restore power to the more than 850,000 customers still without power.
