Gusts reached between 28 and 47 miles-per-hour in the area Wednsday ahead of a winter storm.

Shake, rattle and roll was the theme Wednesday in Commack as wind gusts reached between 28 and 47 miles-per-hour.

Flags waved rapidly in the wind, street lights swayed back and forth and residents had to hold on to their hats from being blown away. 

The heavy wind came ahead of a winter storm that is expected to bring up to 7 inches of snow to Commack, starting Wednesday night and ending Friday morning.

The wind will remain in the area through Friday as well, according to the National Weather Service.

The good news is that Saturday is expected to bring sunshine with clear skies.
