Hundreds of Commack residents gathered on Tuesday night to remember those killed in the Sept. 11 attacks and make sure their lives are never forgotten.

Commack School District hosted its annual 9-11 candlelight ceremony on the high school track, remembering and paying tribute to those who were killed on Sept. 11, 2001. 

The highlight of this year's ceremony was the unveiling of a permanent 9-11 memorial featuring a piece of World Trade Center steel, that is engraved with the names of six Commack residents and alumni killed in the attacks.

Lawsuit: Commack Hess Illegally Zoned, More Study Necessary

A Commack business and four residents have filed a joint lawsuit against the Smithtown Town Board for its decision to allow Hess to build a new gas station in Commack. 

The plaintiffs want Smithtown Town's Board's 3-2 decision on March 22, that allows Hess Corporation to build a 12-pump Hess Express with a 1,231-square-foot convenience store, to be annulled. 

Armed Robber Hits Commack Dairy Barn

Suffolk County police are on the search for an armed robber who hit up Dairy Barn in Commack on Sept. 5. 

Police said a while male entered the Commack Dairy Barn on Commack Road at approximately 9:40 p.m. Sept. 5. The man showed off what appeared to be a firearm, according to police, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarette

Questions Raised Over District's Handling of Marion Carll Farm Lawsuit

 Commack residents and school officials exchanged heated words over district's handling of the Marion Carll Farm lawsuit at Thursday night's board meeting. 

Two of the four residents who filed a motion to intervene on Commack School District's behalf in the lawsuit over possession of the historic 9-acre farm questioned the Board of Education's decision to oppose them. Plaintiffs Vito J.Cottone and James Tampellini openly questioned the board's decision process and the cost.  


Commack Man Critical Following Sunken Meadow Crash

A Commack man was seriously injured during a rush hour car crash on the Sunken Meadow Parkway Tuesday afternoon.
