Week in Review: Baseball Coach Harasses Commack Man, Stolen Tire Trend

A Huntington man who manages a youth baseball team was arrested Friday on charges of reportedly harassing a Commack man coaching another team.

Suffolk County police said Robert Sanfilippo, 45, of 20 Timber Ridge Dr., stalked a rival coach’s family and sent threatening text messages to the competing coach.

Commack resident John Reardon told Newsdaythat he was the recipient of the text messages, which he said included photos of his son getting on the school bus and one which stated: "Maybe I'll pick him up at the bus stop for you next week."

Suffolk County police report a series of car tire thefts in Commack happened between 11:30 p.m. Sept. 20 to 7 a.m. on Sept. 21. Police are searching for witnesses or residents who might know anything about the following cases.

Suffolk County police said there's been an upwards tick in the number of stolen tires and burglaries in the Commack area over recent weeks.

A member of the Suffolk County Police Department's COPE unit speaking at the Commack Civic Association Thursday night said there's been an increase in the number of tires and rims stolen off high-end vehicles in Commack. Thieves are removing expensive tires and rims overnight, leaving the victim's car on cinder blocks.

Commack Civic Association has spent several months searching for a place willing offer land for a community garden. The civic association has found two potential sites but neither spot is secured.

In his pursuit of the American Dream, a Miller Place man is bringing the unique combination of Chicago-style deep dish pizza and smoothies to the corner of the Hauppauge Industrial Park.

Kyle Markott, 33, has opened up Rigatoni's Pizza & Pasta in the corner site of Adams Ave food court in the Hauppauge Industrial Park. While Markott might be new to the Commack-Hauppauge area, he certainly knows his way around a pizzeria.
