Commack residents on Saturday woke up to some of the highest snowfall totals in region, as a brutal blizzard that created white-out conditions much of Friday left the area under more than two feet of snow.

Pavement is slowly coming back to the surface in Commack after the area was walloped with 29.1 inches of snow, but many streets were still left unplowed on Monday, forcing the school district to close.

105 Commack Residents Without Power

Only 48 residents went to bed without power Friday night, the start of the blizzard, but more than double that number woke up in darkness Saturday morning.

According to the Long Island Power Authority's outage map, 105 homes lost electricity early Feb. 9. On Friday, officials from National Grid said that those who lose power will have it restored within 24 hours. They estimated correctly.
