A Commack couple is returning to their family' roots by opening up their own pizzeria in Hauppauge. 

Longtime Commack residents Erica and Frank Amato are serving up slices at Amato's Pizza in the Hauppauge Shopping Center off Route 347. The pair is glad to finally be back behind the pizza counter.

 Two Candidates Seek Commack Fire Commissioner Seat
A 20-year veteran firefighter will run for the Commack Fire Department's title of fire commissioner against the incumbant, Thomas McFadzen, on Dec. 11. 

Mary Francis Ryan, a Commack resident for 19 years, will be running for a seat as Fire Commissioner.

Stern: Station Being Built to Enforce Townline Trucking Restrictions
Commack residents were assured they will soon see improved enforcement of the trucking restrictions on Townline Road. 

Suffolk Legis. Steven Stern, D-Dix Hills, said the county legislature recently approved plans to build a commercial truck inspection station in Commack to address local traffic and safety concerns about Townline Road. 

Residents Say Suffolk Needs a Disaster Plan
Does Suffolk County need a disaster preparedness plan to deal with catastrophic events such as Hurricane Sandy?

The answer from residents at a public hearing held by the County Legislature Thursday was clearly yes. Legislators gathered at the William H. Rogers Legislative Building in Smithtown to obtain feedback from residents on how to better handle a major event such as the recent superstorm.
