Commack Woman Burned in Early Morning House Fire

A Commack woman was burned in an early Monday morning house fire on Elder Drive.

The Commack Fire Department responded to a 911 call reporting a house fire on Elder Drive at 4:57 a.m. Monday. More than 75 Commack firefighters with units from Hauppauge and Kings Park fire departments responded to the scene, according to Patrick Fazio, Commack Fire District commissioner. 

Lowe's Plans for Commack Store Approved by Smithtown Planning Board

A nor`easter couldn't stop Lowe's from taking the next step towards the construction of a new store in Commack.

Lowe's revised plans to build on the site of the former Commack Cinemas was approved by Smithtown Town Planning Department on Wednesday night. 

Nor`Easter Piles On Smithtown Town's Hurricane Clean Up

Smithtown officials said the passing nor'easter had a major impact on their efforts to cleanup and recover from Hurricane Sandy's damage.

John Valentine, Smithtown's Director of Emergency Management Services, said the highway department under Superintendent Glenn Jorgensen had to quickly change gears on Wednesday, being pulled away from ongoing Hurricane Sandy recovery to an "ice and snow control mission."
