Week In Review: Smithtown Considers Legal Action Against Jody Enterprises

Following the exposure of an  where cardboard and paper were exchanged for under-the-counter cash payments, the Town of Smithtown is seeking to terminate its contract with Jody Enterprises and press charges against the company. 

A lawsuit over a Commack gas station has forced Smithtown Town officials to indefinitely postpone changes to town's building code. 

Smithtown town board members voted unanimously Tuesday to table a public hearing on a proposed amendment to town code that would change the limitations on convenience stores based on property zoning and size. 

Four Commack residents are fighting back against Commack School District for the right to have their legal arguments in defense of the school in the Marion Carll Farm Lawsuit. 

Vito J. Cottone, Daniel Fusco, Arthur J. Reilly Sr., and James Tampellini f brought forth by Carll's heirs against Commack School District for possession of the nine-acre historic farm. When school officials tried to prevent them as "mere taxpayers," the residents have chosen to fight on instead of backing down. 

Some Commack residents were surprised to discover swastikas made out of shaving cream painted outside their homes over Labor Day weekend.  

A Commack woman has confessed to stealing cash and jewelry from a tenant living in her basement apartment, Suffolk County Police announced on Tuesday.
