Week in Review: Strip Club Raided, No Bids for Marion Carll Farm

The Scene, located at 70 Vanderbilt Motor Parkway, was raided by police Wednesday as part of an investigation into an alleged mob ring that smuggled Eastern European women into America and forced them to work as exotic dancers.

A Northport man was arrested Friday and charged with driving while impaired by drugs near the Commack Road exit of the Northern State Parkway. Police also found illegal drugs and weapon in his car.

A plan for the historic Marion Carll Farm remains to be decided upon, but a lack of proposals and the rising cost of ownership of the property have the Commack School District feeling the pressure.

Smithtown Town officials have drawn up plans to join Suffolk County in offering a tax break that would encourage business expansions, renovations and the filling of the area's many vacant properties.
