What Do You Want to See Here? [Empty in Commack]

The former sushi restaurant stands vacant on Jericho Tunrpike. Got any ideas?

While there are plenty of businesses thriving in Commack, there are more than a handful of empty or boarded up storefronts in the community, a testament to the hard times the area, and the country faces.

And if Monday's story on the few is any indication, it's a subject that has people talking.

Over the next few months, Commack Patch is going to spotlight these vacant businesses to foster discussion in the community on what can, should and could be done to rehab these abandoned places.

Today, we start with a large restaurant on Jericho Turnpike.

Occupied by up until it closed late last year, this location now sits empty in between strip malls. When it was open, the eatery featured all-you-can-eat buffets of sushi and sashimi, chicken dishes and desserts.

The location now is vacant and for rent. Though it is currently not listed with the Multiple Listing Service of Long Island.

It's a large space, with prime real estate on the busy Jericho Turnpike. What would you like to see here? Another sushi spot, or a different kind of eatery?
