Supplies Needed for Sandy-Affected Pets

Donations can be dropped off at the office of Suffolk County Legis. Steve Stern.

Several pets abandoned or lost during Superstorm Sandy have found temporary care at Little Shelter, a no-kill animal shelter in Huntington.

However, due to the influx of pets in need, the shelter is asking residents to help donate supplies so that it can continue to care for the animals until they find their forever homes.

Suffolk County Legis. Steve Stern is collecting supplies for Little Shelter so that it has an adequate supply of food and other needs. Items needed include pet treats, cat and dog toys, kitty litter, cleaning supplies, such as laundry detergent, glass cleaner, paper towels and garbage cans, dog food and wet cat food, double AA batteries and bedding.

Donations for The Little Shelter can be dropped off at 1842 East Jericho Tpke., Huntington, NY, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
