Commack Resident Named Top Leader in Law on LI

Leslie A. Berkoff focuses on the area of bankruptcy with the firm, Moritt Hock & Hamroff LLP.

Leslie A. Berkoff, a partner of the firm, Moritt Hock & Hamroff LLP, and Commack resident is one of Long was named by Long Island Business News as a member of the 2013 class of Long Island's Top Leadership In Law. 

The awards are dedicated to those individuals whose leadership, both in the legal profession and in the community, has had a positive-and lasting-impact on Long Island.  Berkoff was honored at a Gala Awards Dinner on Nov. 14. at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

According to a press release from the firm, Berkoff serves as chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy practice group.  She concentrates her practice in the area of bankruptcy and restructuring litigation and corporate workouts and represents a variety of corporate debtors, trustees, creditors and creditor committees both nationally and locally. Berkoff is also co-chair of the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation's (IWIRC) Advisory Council. From 2004-2008 she served as Chair of IWIRC, in addition to serving on its Board of Directors for over fifteen years. She also served as co-chair of the American Bankruptcy Institute's Healthcare Insolvency Committee from April 2008-2011 and is an active member of the Mediation and Healthcare Committees.

Berkoff was Co-Editor of the ABI's Healthcare Bankruptcy Manual, Third Edition. In addition to her practice, she serves as a mediator, and is on the Mediation Panel for the Eastern and Southern Districts of the United States Bankruptcy Courts in New York and the United States Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, as well as the Commercial Mediation Panel for Nassau County. She also serves on the Board of Editors of Pratt’s Journal of Bankruptcy Law. Berkoff earned her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.
