Commack's Carly Aquilino Helps Shelter Animals During Holidays

MTV star and former resident creates fundraising campaign for homeless pets.

Commack graduate turned MTV star Carly Aquilino, who is a cast member on the channel's "Girl Code," is looking to help pets in need of a home this holiday season with a fundraiser for Long Island's North Shore Animal League.

Aquilino told MTV that once she learned that four million animals are put to sleep each year, she and her beau, Chris Distefano, who stars on "Guy Code" decided to do something to help.

Aquilino and Distefano are now running a campaign on ShopFunder.com, which allows people to shop for clothes, jewelry, accessories and other goods with 30 percent going back to North Shore Animal League, a no kill shelter. Their goal is to raise $5,000 by Dec. 13.
