Panera Bread Collecting Turkey Donations for Those in Need

Residents can drop off donations until Dec. 24.

Panera Bread, located at the corner of Jericho Turnpike and Larkfield Road, is now holding its annual Turkey and Trimmings Collection Campaign with Island Harvest Food Bank to give families in need a holiday meal this season.

The restaurant is asking its neighbors to donate frozen turkeys and non-perishable food items at before Dec, 24.

According to Randi Shubin Dresner, president and CEO of Island Harvest, nearly 300,000 Long Islanders, including 110,000 children are hungry. That's one out of every 10 Long Islanders, she explained.

Donations of frozen turkeys and non-perishable food items can be dropped off from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Panera.

“These donations will help Island Harvest supply warm, nutritious meals to local families in need throughout the holidays,” Greg George, Vice President of Operations for Doherty Enterprises and franchisee of the Long Island Panera Bread bakery-cafes, said.
