Hello, Commack. It's my pleasure to meet you.
As avid Patch readers are aware, former Commack editor Kaitlyn Piccolion Friday as she prepared to take over West Islip Patch. After more than a year in Commack, it's fair to say the community and its spirit were very important to her.
I come to Commack as an experienced Patch editor, who has been running the neighboring Hauppauge Patch since September 2010. Over the past 18 months, I have covered numerous school board meetings, town government meetings, crimes, community issues and business openings in nearly 3,000 articles.
In recent months, I have worked with Kaitlyn to cover Town of Smithtown government news including the controversy surrounding the on the corner of Jericho Turnpike and Harned Road.
If my byline seems familar, I have met some Commack residents while working as a staff reporter for Long Island Newspapers, who publishes The Record, from March 2009 to July 2010.
Before heading to West Islip, Kaitlyn has worked to bring me up to date on the latest issues affecting Commack and the local quality-of-life issues. She spent hours filling me in on the status of Marion Carll Farm, the proposal to build on Commack Road and Genosee Drive, and .
