Shortly after Grill 454's closing on New Year's Day, Commack residents have started talking about the different businesses they'd love to see take over this vacant restaurant.
Grill 454 owners announced the upscale steakhouse would be closing through its Facebook page on Dec. 26, just days before its final New Year's Eve party featuring Poparazzi.
The restaurant was open for slightly more than a year, December 2011 - Jan. 1, 2013, after taking over the former Charlie Brown Steakhouse after it filed for bankruptcy in November 2010.
It's closure leaves behind an undesirable hole in the Commack, another large vacant building marring the local landscape.
Patch readers have already started offering their suggestions for what eateries they would like to see take over. Suggestions have ranged from Miller's Ale House to more family-oriented dining.
" I think a Miller's Ale House or Buffalo Wild Wings type place would be perfect here. A place families could bring kids or groups of friends could go hang out, watch sports and have some good wings/beers etc. This area is sorely lacking in that type of spot," writes Laura Perocier.
Yet Miller's Ale House has plans to knock down the former Houlihan's near Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove for its next location.
So we ask you: What would you like to see replace Grill 454? Would you want to see another steakhouse or would you like to see change?
