What's the Nicest Thing Someone Did for You During the Storm?

If someone went out of their way for you before, after, or during the storm, tell us about them.

As Thanksgiving approaches next week, it's a good time to take notice of the kind things we do for one another. With Superstorm Sandy having just occurred a few weeks ago, we were thinking about all the ways that neighbors have been helping neighbors, both near and far.

Jackson's owner Shelby Poole opened up her restaurant's party room for local residents to get warm and recharge their electronics if they had no power at home. Meanwhile, the Commack Fire Department helped give out-of-state utility workers a warm place to sleep overnight.

Do you have a story to share about something kind someone did for you? For your family member? For your friend? You don't necessarily have to use names — though we encourage you to recognize that special person.

They deserve it, right? Share your stories in the comments below.

The lineman who restored our power offered me his inhaler as I violently coughed from my asthma.

My neighbors Richie and Diane hooked up my refrig and lamp to their generator. They invited me over at nite for a cup of hot tea and their company. Also their smart and beautiful neice Nicole joined us. Kudos to them!!!!!!

Thanks to the best neighbors in Commack who once again came to our rescue
We hooked into their generator and had our refrigerator going, a lamp and a radio. They also shared the most delicious HOT dinner of ravioli and homemade sauce. We have been neighbors since 1973 and I can't remember the number of times they have helped! Thanks again <3

A few friends had me and my kids stay with them for a night but one friend offered for us to stay as long as we needed, with true joy in the offering as though it was her true delight and no bother at all!

And another big thank you to my "snow team" - by the time we woke up our walk and driveway were shoveled clean
