As Thanksgiving approaches next week, it's a good time to take notice of the kind things we do for one another. With Superstorm Sandy having just occurred a few weeks ago, we were thinking about all the ways that neighbors have been helping neighbors, both near and far.
Jackson's owner Shelby Poole opened up her restaurant's party room for local residents to get warm and recharge their electronics if they had no power at home. Meanwhile, the Commack Fire Department helped give out-of-state utility workers a warm place to sleep overnight.
Do you have a story to share about something kind someone did for you? For your family member? For your friend? You don't necessarily have to use names — though we encourage you to recognize that special person.
They deserve it, right? Share your stories in the comments below.
We hooked into their generator and had our refrigerator going, a lamp and a radio. They also shared the most delicious HOT dinner of ravioli and homemade sauce. We have been neighbors since 1973 and I can't remember the number of times they have helped! Thanks again <3
Are we lucky or what???!!!
