Why The Budget Vote Is So Important
When you go to the polls tomorrow, keep in mind that regardless of all the rhetoric, the CUFSD proposed a budget that increases spending 4.68%, from $171.3 Million, to $179.4 Million. In 2012, the inflation rate was about 2.1% and the rate is projected to be about 1.7% in 2013. When you think about that, try to recall what measures the board and administration has taken over the past three years to mitigate the effects of the challenging economy. If you can not find evidence of good planning over those years, vote for a change in leadership over the next three years. Vote yes for Steve Hartmann and Jim Tampellini for Trustee and vote Yes for Proposition 2 which will expand the current board to 7 members from the current 5. Cast a yes vote for greater transparency, clarity and community involvement.
