Private Beach Front Home Sand Replenishment

Beach front home owners benefit with resource diverted from the greater good.

A walk along the beach at Flying Point today, Sunday, November 4th in an easterly direction to Mecox Inlet, revealed a large beach erosion project.  Massive trucks and payloaders were moving sand to what appears to be a private beach front home.

Along other stretches of the beach in Bridgehampton we saw sand berms recently recreated to protect at least one public beach and a washover caused by Sandy.

Kudos to the Trustees for taking care of our public beaches and access points, but why private homes?

In previous operations I was informed that homeowners were charged for "our" sand.  In this case I wonder whether the charge, if there is one, is sufficient to cover the loss of sand taken from Mecox Inlet, which is now denuded and flat.

I hope you can go observe the property before the forecast storm for this Wednesday and after the storm. Will the sand still be in place. More importantly what will the affect of this artificial barrier in front of one home be on the property owners to the west?

Everyone has their fingers in the Town's honey pot, it seems. Local contractors, builders, developers...all linked by "donation" to local political parties. It's a "tradition" that goes back to many Town Supervisors. It's disgusting and one of the reasons a friend of mine said that Southampton Town Hall is more corrupt than Brookhaven.
