170 Commack Residents Without Power

A tree limb took down power lines Friday afternoon.

About 170 Commack residents lost power in their homes Friday afternoon, according to the Long Island Power Authority's outage map.

The outages were caused by a tree limb falling on a wire, Elizabeth Flager, a spokesperson for LIPA, said in an email.

Residents said their electricity went out around noon Friday. For some, it is the second day in a row that they've experienced a power outage.

According to the outage map, LIPA crews are working to restore power near Jericho Turnpike between Larkfield Road and Commack Road.

LIPA estimated a restoration time of 2:30 p.m.

There were about 300 Suffolk County residents without power as of 1 p.m. Friday.
