Hurricane Sandy left virtually nobody with power in Commack.
As of 1:38 p.m. Tuesday, the Long Island Power Authority reported that 23,718 customers in Commack have lost power after Hurricane Sandy ripped through the area, toppling trees and power lines.
LIPA is still assessing the damage to its grid, which was widespread across Long Island. The power authority lists more than 900,000 customers are without power.
