Bicyclist Struck on Commack Road

Commack Road is closed in both directions due to a police investigation.

A bicyclist was struck and injured after colliding with a vehicle at the intersection of Commack Road and Hauppauge Road in Commack Friday afternoon.

According to police, the man was riding his bicycle south on Hauppauge Road when he collided with a motorist driving east on Hauppauge Road at 4:40 p.m.

The bicyclist was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with a broken leg and head injuries, police said. He was listed with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The woman who was driving vehicle was not injured.

Commack Road is closed both north and southbound due to a police investigation of the accident. It is not yet known when the road will reopen.
