An unidentified person broke into a car and stole a handbag at Commack Multiplex on the evening of April 23.

According to Suffolk County police, an individual smashed the passenger-side window of a parked 2006 Toyota Tundra at 10 p.m.

The parking lot between DSW and Retro Fitness is the scene of many car break-ins. Cars are being broken into during daylight hours and handbags and other valuables are being taken. The intrusion in Commack sounds similar. Perhaps the owners of large parking lots can invest in cameras so that the perpertrators can be caught and apprehended.

When I used to go to the Commack Multiplex a lot in the past I recall they had a security car riding around in the lot. Recently, I have not noticed such security. They may be cutting back on cost to the extent there is less security. Less security means more crime. More crime means less customers. Less customers means less money. Just another sign of our crumbling economy.
