East Hampton Man Charged With Nearly 70 Sex Crimes

Following an investigation after an April arrest, Fidel Castro-Brito stands charged with over 70 crimes, including first-degree rape.

After being indicted in April on seven felony sex crimes – including three charges of first-degree rape – an East Hampton man was indicted once again and now stands charged with nearly 70 felonies, all related to criminal sex acts with a minor, after police conducted further investigations.

Fidel Castro-Brito, 23, was originally arrested on April 7 after a man went to police after he allegedly saw Castro-Brito jumping out of his daughter's bedroom window upon his arrival home. He had confronted Castro-Brito months earlier on Facebook and advised him to stay away from his daughter because she is a minor and Castro said he would, he told police.

Castro was later arrested by East Hampton Town Police and indicted by a Suffolk grand jury.

But according to East Hampton Town Det. Lt. Chris Anderson, a subsequent investigation revealed that Castro-Brito's crimes ran much deeper than what was originally found. Namely, charges relating to sexual performances arose, which indicate the use of a minor in a "play, motion picture, photograph or dance," according to state penal law.

"Based on those interviews, we were able to develop new information which initiated a new case," Anderson said. "We were able to identify new victims and this indictment is the result of criminal acts committed against those victims."

According to the most recent indictment, handed down by a grand jury, the victim Castro-Brito raped on two separate occasions was under the age of 11 years old at the time of the incidents. In April, police interviewed Castro and took a sworn statement, in which he admitted to having sexual intercourse on at least one occassion with the minor, according to police.

Three victims in total are referred to in the more recent indictment, all of whom were reported to be under the age of 13 when the incidents spanning from the summer of 2010 through the fall of 2011 occurred. State law protects their identity.

He is charged with the following:

  • 3 charges, predatory sexual assualt against a child, felony
  • 17 charges, use of a child in a sexual performance, felony
  • 17 charges, promoting a sexual performance by a child, felony
  • 24 charges, possessing a sexual performance by a child, felony
  • 2 charges, first-degree rape, felony
  • 2 charges, sexual abuse in the first degree, felony
  • 2 charges, predatory sexual assault against a child, felony
  • 1 charge, attempted use of a child in a sexual performance, felony
  • 3 charges, endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanor

Castro-Brito was indicted on Nov. 16 and pleaded not guilty to all 71 charges against him. He was held without bail, and court records indicate that he is due back in court on Jan. 4 of next year.

For once, all the comments are united. There are no "oh, let's not assume this guy is illegal...they have rights, too ya know!" The businesses out here that hire illegal immigrants are to blame for the rape of our children, in particular...this incident. Yet, these business owners don't see anything wrong with the practice of hiring this cheap labor. Sadly, reporting the illegals and employers who hire them is not done on an anonymous basis, discouraging complaints. There should be an anonymous hot line for reporting, but our government almost seems to purposely be protecting these illegal behaviors in complicating the reporting process. A "whistle blower" must give their contact information to the IRS, ICE, etc., for prosecution purposes, as they are considered witness statements necessary at trial. Who wants that??? Do you want a bunch of illegals coming after you or your family? I don't, yet I know of plenty of illegals and their employers out here. So, this is a reason for the big smile on this disgusting creep's mug. He is repulsive. If I had caught him fleeing my daughter's bedroom window, I would have beat him to a pulp. I would gladly serve time for doing so if convicted by a jury of my peers. Ship this d@u(he back from whence he came. He violated at least one innocent being...as we aren't sure how many charges he racked up per victim. SEND HIM AWAY...and yeah, I'd be cool with chopping his nuts off, too. Castrate the pr!(k.

The first question that occurs to anyone reading this article is, "Is this guy an illegal?" I wish that the press would answer its readers questions instead of censoring the news.

This post was prepared in response to the article about our open county legislative seat, but it's also appropriate here. We need to start talking about this problem and need to force our local government officials to address it!!! Make your vote count! Anyone willing to talk about the high rate/influx and employment of illegal immigrants and it's effect on the local economy, criminal, educational and social welfare systems? The arguments that they fill jobs that otherwise wouldn't be filled and that they spend money/support our local businesses, doesn't seem to make up for the costs to the taxpayers. Besides, even if we were willing (or were willing to have our kids work those jobs), we’d be threatening their system, and our lives would be in danger! Here's some of the benefits of bringing, employing and protecting illegal immigrants: Illegal immigrants - don't have to pay employment income taxes (paid under the table), school taxes, real estate taxes, department of motor vehicle taxes, insurance premiums. Farm owners - don't have to pay employer income taxes (money paid to illegal immigrants is undocumented), don't have to pay real estate taxes (agricultural exemptions) or school taxes (agricultural exemptions), sales taxes on farm equipment and other items/expenses (agricultural exemptions/credits).

Comment continued: Illegal immigrants - birth children here and then are able to access all of our social services that are supported by those of us who pay all of the aforementioned taxes - get access to health care (Child Health Plus, Medicaid), educational (Regular and Special Education services), WIC, food stamps, welfare, low income housing. When their children turn 18, their college is paid for. When they turn 21, they apply for/sponsor their parents and other siblings for citizenship, and a spiraling effect ensues - their parent sponsor their siblings (the child's aunts and uncles), who then sponsor their children....check out a new legitimate market called "Birth Tourism." All on the backs of the middle class! Wealthy - get untaxed domestic workers and landscaping services. Landscaping companies - similar benefits to farm owners. Restaurants - don't pay employer taxes. Don't see any benefits for the middle class???? Can't think of any! Feel free to list them if you can.

I have made two predictions in my older years of life. One has always been someday I will have ocean front property living several feet off a creek across the bay. The other is the direction America is heading you will see a Mexican President in 20 years. Think about it .When I go out into stores and I see the new families of America with 2 to 4 children. I multiply an average of $20,000 a year to educated each one. I perdict 9 chances out of 10 America will have a Mexican predident. Carol
