Crash forced temporary closure of the Long Island Expressway between Exits 51 and 52 Thursday night.

A Commack woman is one of multiple drivers hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash on the Long Island Expressway Thursday night.

According to Suffolk County Police, Gloria Montoya, of Commack, was driving a 2013 Honda Accord in the center lane eastbound on the LIE, between exits 51 (Route 231) and 52 (Commack Road) when her vehicle was rear-ended by a dump truck that was traveling behind her and attempting to merge onto the right hand lane at approximately 7:30 p.m.  Montoya then struck the concrete center divider, a 2003 Toyota Solara that was traveling in the HOV lane, and a 2005 Dodge Magnum that was traveling in the center lane.

The driver of the Solara, William Broer, 83, of Hauppauge, was airlifted by a Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in serious condition. Montoya, 49, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Magnum, Carlos Gonzalez, 35, of 954 Wilson Boulevard, Central Islip, was not injured.
