Commack Driver Strikes, Kills Man Crossing Jericho Turnpike

Jonathan Czeh of Kings Park was crossing Route 25 in Smithtown when he was struck and killed by an SUV.

A Kings Park man was struck by an SUV and killed Wednesday night while crossing Jericho Turnpike in Smithtown.

According to police, Jonathan Czeh, 34, was crossing West Jericho Turnpike at Plymouth Boulevard at roughly 7:09 p.m. when he was struck by a 2004 Ford Expedition driven by Lisa Boyle, 40, of Commack. Czeh was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the call for the accident was received at 7:09 p.m. The accident took place at the intersection near the Mobil gas station, leaving traffic closed westbound.

This is the the second fatal pedestrian accident on Jericho Turnpike involving a Commack driver this month. Last week, 45-year-old William Prucha, of South Huntington, was in Huntington Station.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. According to police, all calls will be kept confidential.
