Commack Firefighters Battle Commerical, Residential Blazes

Fires broke out at a hair salon and Siracusa Boulevard home on Sunday.

Fires in a business and home kept Commack firefighters busy all day Sunday.

Memebrs of the Commack Fire department responded to a flood alarm at Olio Restaraunt on Jericho Turnpike at approximately 6:20 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a small fire in the back of .

The fire was extinguised and there were no injuries.

Hours later atabout 4 p.m., another call came in reporting a residential fire at 41 Siracusa Boulevard.

The fire began in the garage of the home, and spread to an upstairs bedroom. Additional units were called, andthe Dix Hills Fire Department was called in to stand by at the Commack Fire Deparmtnet Headquarters.

It took more than an hour for the Commack and Kings Park Fire Departments to gain control of the flames.

According to Suffok County police, no one was home when the fire occurred. It is not clear what caused the blaze.
