Commack Firefighters Battle Trailer Blaze

Suffolk County Arson Squad was called to investigate after first responders smelled gasoline at the scene.

Commack firefighters tackled a trailer blazer late Sunday night in Commack.

Commack Fire Department reported they received multiple phone calls about a commercial building fire off the intersection of Henry Road and Crooked Hill Road on March 25, according to their website.

Chief of Dept.  Kieran Keane was the first to arrive at the fire, finding a fully engulfed trailer leaning up against a two-story building. Firefighters immediately turned water on the fire and forced their way into the building, to see if the fire has extended inside.

While battling the blaze, responders reported smelling gasoline fumes. It also appeared a pickup truck parked near the trailer had a window broken and its glove box had been rifled through, according to the fire department. A second truck across the parking lot also looked as if it had been broken into.

Keane asked Suffolk County police officers to secure both vehicles for further investigation. Suffolk County Arson Squad was called to the fire.

The fire completely destroyed the trailor and damaged the building's roof and fascia.

The fire is currently under investigation by Suffolk County arson squad, the Smithtown Fire Marshals' office and the Commack Fire District Fire Marshal.
