Commack Man Accused of Armed Gas Station Robbery

Paul Zigon, 57, is facing charges of first-degree robbery.

 

A Commack man was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly holding up a Blue Point gas station at gun point. 

Suffolk County police say Paul Zigon, 57, entered a BP gas station on Montauk Highway at 10:27 p.m. Wednesday and started demanding cash. He showed what appeared to be a handgun to the gas station attendant. The employee complied and gave Zigon the cash.

Zigon fled the gas station on a bicycle, heading southbound on Blue Point Ave, according to police.

Fifth Precinct officer Matthew DeMatteo found and arrested Zigon as short time later, who had the proceeds of the robbery on him. K-9 unit officer Keith Menotti and his dog, Havoc, found and recovered the weapon used in the robbery from a nearby wooded area.

Zigon was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree robbery, a violent felony. He will be arraigned in Central Islip courts on Thursday.
