A Commack woman was arrested early Thursday and charged with driving while intoxicated on the Southern State Parkway, police said.
According to New York State police, Samantha Carey, 21, was stopped by a Trooper for speeding, swerving in between lanes and texting while driving on the parkway in the Town of Islip at around 1:30 a.m.
Police determined Carey to be intoxicated and place her under arrest. Police also allegedly found a small quantity of marijuana and a prescription medication she did not have a prescription for in Carey's possession.
When given a breathalyzer test, Carey blew a breathe sample of .12% blood alcohol content, police said.
She was charged with DWI, criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and several traffic violations, police said.
