Suffolk County police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Thursday afternoon in Huntington Station.

Detectives say a woman entered the Citibank at 300 Walt Whitman Road at 12:13 p.m. and approached a teller with a note demanding cash and threatening that she had a gun.

The teller complied with the demand and gave the woman cash from the drawer. The woman fled the bank in heading north, police said.

The robber is described as white, approximately 5-foot-4, 25-years-old, with dark colored hair and a thin build. She was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and dark sunglasses, according to police.

No, the mall is in Huntington Station, as is Whitman High School. Both use Huntington Station as their mailing address.

You know, Walt Whitman used to run around half-naked in the woods writing poetry. He'd fit right in today's Huntington Station, except he'd be called a rap artist today and not a poet.
