Crime Log: Drug Arrests in Commack

A look at recent crime in Commack.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

  • Joseph Botti, 27, from Commack was arrested in Smithtown on a charge of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, a misdemeanor, after police say he hit a parked car on Shirley Court May 17 and fled.    
  • Shadaya Shelbyshorter, 20, of Commack, was arrested at the Rodeway Inn motel at 450 Moreland Road in Commack, May 24 on a charge of criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor. Police said she was caught with a stolen prescription pad.   
  • Brian Ahrens, 24, of Smithtown, was arrested in Commack May 24, on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. Police said they suspected Ahrens was intending to sell the drug based on the amount he allegedly had. Police arrested Ahrens at the King Kullen shopping center at 89 Veterans Memorial Highway.
