Crime Log: Three Burglaries in Five Days

A look at recent crime in Commack.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

  • The woman who made a getaway on a motorized chair after allegedly stealing it from Target was arrested Oct. 4. Police charged Linda Shaw, 64, with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony. 
  • Police arrested a 20-year-old of Northport Sept. 28 on charges of criminal possession of stolen property and petty larceny after he allegedly stole an iPhone from a store and used a stolen bank card to purchase sneakers at Footlocker in the Walt Whitman Mall.
Three Burglaries in Five Days
Police responded to reports of three home burglaries between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2, in which jewelry, cash and other items were taken from the residences.

The first burglary is said to have occurred Sept. 18 on Burr Road around 11 a.m., in which the burglar came in through the bathroom window and allegedly stole jewelry and cash. The second incident occurred Oct. 1 on Arden at approximately 8 a.m. The homeowners reported that money, an iPad and two digital cameras were stolen after the burglar entered through a window. The third incident occurred Oct. 2 on Ruth Boulevard at approximately 9 a.m. The homeowners told police that jewelry and money were taken.
