Margaret Ellen Hinton was disabled and used a cane to walk and was in cronic pain. She was recently released from the hospital after a 2 week stay. After filling up her cart with groceries, she decided to get another plant for Easter. Using her cart for balance, she proceeded to go out the door to get another plant. Security jumped in front of her and accussed her of stealing. Hearing her side of the story, they proceeded to prosecute a disabled person instead of assisting her. Margaret had the money to purchase the groceries which they refused to let her do. It took her 2 hours to gather up what her family needed and left the store with nothing. There was no Easter dinner in the Hinton house. Margaret was too tramitized to go grocery shopping again. The Police Officer tried to talk them out of arresting her. They did not care. She had pictures of where she was standing. Also pictures of all the goods they sell outside. Why do they have items outside for sale if you cannot go outside to get them without being arrested.? Her back wheels never left the store. This tramatic experience set her back in her recovery. She will never shop at Stop and Shop ever again. All her family and friends have made the same commitment. IF YOU ARE DISABLED, DO NOT SHOP AND STOP & SHOP. THEY WILL NOT ASK IF YOU NEED HELP, BUT WILL WAIT TO SEE IF THEY CAN MAKE A BUST AND LOOK LIKE BIGSHOTS.
