Crimes Nearby: Car Vandalism Spree in Kings Park

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County and New York State Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Suffolk County police reported the following arrests: 

Kings Park

Several residents awoke to smashed automobile windows and damaged cars last week as a rash of vandalism struck the area.
Police reports show eight cars had either their rear window or side mirrors smashed sometime during June 18 or 19. Three of the cars vandalized were on Lou Avenue. Other streets where parked cars received damage were 1st Avenue, Indian Head Road, Hilden Street, Fireplace Drive and Robin Lane.
According to the police, all of the cars damaged were parked in the street at the time of the incident.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incidents to call the fourth precinct at 631-854-8400.

Hauppauge

Police charged Nicole Notaroberta, 29, and Franklin Orlando, 43, both of Lake Grove with three counts of petit larceny on June 22.
Police said Notaroberta and Orlando together stole assorted clothing on June 22 from JC Penney department store at the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove.  Police also charged the pair with two counts of petit larceny for a theft that occurred at the Target in Medford on October 6 and 8.

Daren Betner, 48, of East Northport was charged on June 21 with driving while intoxicated. Police said Betner was driving at a high rate of speed on Veterans Highway in Smithtown at 12:45 a.m. when police charged him with DWI.
Andrew Samboy, 31, of Bayshore was charged on June 19 with driving while intoxicated. Police said Samboy was driving a 2000 Ford on Route 111 in Hauppauge when he drove off the road and struck a guardrail. He was then found to be under the influence and was charged.

Northport

A Fort Salonga store owner contacted police headquarters on June 13 to inquire about the proper paperwork needed to pursue a person who issued a bad check in the amount of $52.30. 

Someone set the pitcher's mound on fire on Ocean Avenue on June 13.  and the police officer on patrol responded and corrected the condition.

A man who owns a vacant property on Main Street told police that several kids were attempting to gain entry through the garage on June 15. Upon arrival, the officer found that one of the front garage doors had damage to the locking assembly and that someone did gain entry into the second story via a side door. The side door had a broken window and the locking assembly was also pried from the frame of the door. The owner responded and stated that this was the third or fourth time in the recent past that youths had attempted to gain entry.

A Seaview Avenue man reported that an unknown person entered his parked and unoccupied Mercedes Benz and took an iPod from his glove box sometime between 8 p.m. on June 19 to 8 a.m. on June 20.

Another Seaview Avenue man reported that an unknown person entered his unoccupied 2004 Toyota between June 19 and 20, saying that the person emptied the contents of the glove box onto the car floor but didn't take anything. The complainant stated that he forgot to lock the doors when he parked it in front of his house.


Smithtown

Leonardo Luisi, 23, of Medford, was arrested on June 22 in Smithtown at 12:48 a.m. on first offense DWI charges. Reports state Luisi was arrested on Miller Road while driving a 2001 Saturn for driving at an unsafe speed through a parking lot, made a left turn against a posted sign, and drove through a steady red traffic light.

George Corona Luna, 42, of Selden, was arrested on June 21 in Village of the Branch at 3:12 a.m. on first offense DWI charges. Reports state Luna failed to maintain his designated traffic lane eastbound on Route 25 while operating a 2002 Chrysler minivan.

Jessica Guilfoyle, 21, of Smithtown, was arrested on June 21 in Smithtown at 6 p.m. on fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property charges. Reports state Guilfoyle was arrested on Maple Avenue while in possession of a Magellan Roadmate GPS unit that was reported stolen by its owner.

Mervin Sanchez, 47, of Medford, was arrested on June 21 in Smithtown on second degree coercion of physical injury charges. Reports state Sanchez was arrested for an incident that occurred on or about May 9 on Amsterdam Avenue at 6 p.m. where he threatened another person.

Michael Ringle, 31, of Brentwood, was arrested on June 20 in Smithtown at 2:55 a.m. on first offense DWI charges. Reports state Ringle failed to maintain his lane while driving a 2011 Hyundai westbound on Route 25.
