Crimes Nearby: Man Charged with Arson in East Northport House Fire

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suffolk County police reported the following information:

East Northport

Huntington Station resident Aaron Tarkin was charged with arson Wednesday related to a Feb. 13 house fire in East Northport, according to the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad.

It comes just one day after Tarkin, 25, was charged with felony DWI and child endangerment charges in Huntington Station.

arrested Tarkin on Tuesday after he , ages 5 and 8, on a lunch outing. He was charged with felony DWI, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, operation of a motor vehicle without an interlock device, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle.

Tarkin was also charged with second degree arson Wednesday after an unrelated investigation by Suffolk County Police Arson Squad detectives determined he may have started a fire at 725 Glenridge Lane in East Northport on Feb. 13 at 11:41 p.m.

Kings Park

John Scarlett, 31, and Matthew Olson, 31, both of Kings Park, were charged on Feb. 22 in Dix Hills, with unlawful use of a  controlled substance and possession of stolen property. Police said Scarlett and Olson were in possession of four spools of copper wire taken from the Long Island Power Authority.

Scott Campbell, 25, of Kings Park, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Feb. 19. Police said Campbell was speeding when he went through a red light and was then charged with DWI.

Smithtown

Raymond Kump, 28, of St. James, was arrested in Smithtown on Feb. 22 on charges of first-offense DWI. Reports state Kump was arrested at Route 25 at Brooksite Drive at 1:25 a.m. while driving a 2006 Nissan.

Hauppauge

Edil Perez, 23, of Central Islip, was arrested Feb. 24 in Hauppauge and charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument. Police said Perez was pulled over at a traffic stop at Adams Avenue and Motor Parkway intersection in Hauppauge, where he displayed a forged Social Security card.

Three Village

Bishal Dey, 19, of Woodside, was arrested Feb. 17 in Setauket and charged with first-offense DWI. Police say Bishal was driving northbound on Nicolls Road when he went through a red light and crashed into a wooded area at the intersection of Nicolls Road and Route 25A at approximately 2 a.m.

Windows of two cars were shattered on back-to-back nights last week on Christian Avenue, according to police. A Christian Avenue homeowner in Setauket reported Feb. 24 at 11:55 p.m. that the rear window of a 2004 Honda Civic was shot out, possibly with a pellet gun, according to a police report. Police also said a Christian Avenue homeowner in Stony Brook reported Feb. 25 at 8:30 p.m. that the rear window of a 2003 Honda Element was shot out, possibly with a BB gun. Both incidents were classified as fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. Police could not confirm whether the two incidents were related.
